BONDIFLY - A Premature Baby's Best Friend
Premature babies often have a tough start in life. Parents, friends and family members will naturally do everything they can to help the little miracle in this difficult period. The baby should feel safe, secure and loved, and should be able to bond with the parents or carers while still in the incubator. Our premature comforter Bondifly will be a great support in this process.
In cooperation with the Technical University of Delft, Juliana Children’s Hospital and the Jeroen Bosch Hospital, Keptin-Jr undertook intensive research of premature babies and a comforter that would meet their needs. The result is Bondifly. With Bondifly, Keptin-Jr now offers you a comforter that is specifically developed to help premature babies with their first tough weeks. Of course, Bondifly will also remain the favorite cuddle as your baby gets older.
Premature babies’ little hands are always seeking something solid to hold. Therefore, they often grab the probe or oxygen tube. This can cause them a lot of pain due to the plaster that is attached to the tube or probe. If Bondifly is placed permanently near the probe, the baby can ‘’explore’’ without any pain and the probe will stay in place. Bondifly satisfies the natural grasping reflex, prevents pain and decreases stress.
Bonding with their mother and father stimulates the brain development of babies. Bondifly strengthens this bond with the parents. A removable wing introduces the scent of the parents into the incubator. This wing is made of 100% cotton velvet and can be worn by the mother in her bra or by the father underneath his shirt. Thus, the soft fabric will absorb their scent. Bondifly is delivered with an extra wing. One wing to wear and one wing to leave with the baby.
Blanket and Filling
Premature babies often feel the most comfortable when they are tucked in. The body and wings of Bondifly are like a blanket for the baby. A premature baby wants to feel a blanket all around its body. When the baby is lying inside an incubator nest , there is often an empty space between the baby’s tummy and the nest. The head of Bondifly will fill up the empty space between the belly and the incubator nest.
